Win32/Xorer Virus
Win32/Xorer is a detection for exact variant of virus or worm that came from Xorer family. These file infector worms spread in a specific period. Win32/Xorer drops copies of the harmful code into removable drives. The worm is designed to run every time that the infected drive is accessed. Using the infected drive to a different computer with enabled autorun feature also execute the worm code without user’s knowledge. Variants of Win32/Xorer are also deploy as contents in Winrar compressed file that instantly extracted the code when access.
Upon execution, Win32/Xorer may carry out various tasks depending on the variant. However, most copy of this virus modifies registry, add an entry to disable some Windows functions. It can also disable autorun feature on the affected PC to instantly execute other worm versions from the same group.
What makes Win32/Xorer virus different from other worms is its ability to install a rootkit service on the affected computer. It drops a file NetApi000.sys to the root of every writable drive it found attached to the infected computer. Then, Win32/Xorer will create a Windows service to run the worm each time the computer starts.

Follow these Procedures to Remove Win32/Xorer Virus
Procedure 1: Start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking
1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking
- Turn on the computer and immediately press F8 on the keyboard to enter Windows Advanced Options screen. Make sure to hit the F8 button before Windows logo appears on the screen. Failure to do this will boot Windows normally. If that happens, please repeat the process until you successfully boot into Windows Advanced Options. Please see image below for reference.
- From the selections, choose Safe Mode with Networking. Please use keyboard's arrow up/down to navigate between selections and press Enter to proceed.Safe mode loads minimal driver and processes, thus, there is no chance that Win32/Xorer Virus will run during this mode.

Procedure 2: Scan and remove Win32/Xorer Virus files with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
To remove Win32/Xorer Virus, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware by clicking on the button below. This tool is effective in getting rid of Trojans, viruses and malware.
1. After downloading, please install the program using the default settings.
