AntiAID
What is AntiAID?
AntiAID is a misleading security application that may be downloaded from its own websites namely antiaid.com and AntiAID – Online Protection. These two websites will pretend as security web-page and online virus scanner respectively. A malicious scripts embedded on these sites may run on visitors computer that will download and install the application on victims computer without a consent.
Once installed, AntiAID virus’ next goal is to convince the victim to pay for the registered version of it. This can be achieved by displaying various warning alerts and messages and exhibiting a fake virus scan that will scare computer users. AntiAID only offers one solution to remove detected fake threats and that is to purchase the licensed version.

What are the Symptoms of AntiAID Infection?

It will modify Windows Registry and add the following entries:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run “%System%\4wsfryu2.exe”
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run “%ProgramFiles%\AntiAID Software\AntiAID\AntiAID.exe -min”
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AntiAID
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall\AntiAID
The threat will drop the following malicious files:
- %Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\AntiAID\1 AntiAID.lnk
- %Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\AntiAID\2 Homepage.lnk
- %Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\AntiAID\3 Uninstall.lnk
- %Documents and Settings%\All Users\Desktop\AntiAID.lnk
- %Program Files%\AntiAID Software\AntiAID\AntiAID.exe
- %Program Files%\AntiAID Software\AntiAID\uninstall.exe
- %Temp%\psk9.tmp
- %Temp%\pst7.tmp
- %Temp%\mdm5.tmp
- %Temp%\3efg66df.exe
- %Temp%\4wsfryu2.exe
How to Remove AntiAID Manually
1. Restart your computer in SafeMode
- After Power-On the computer, just before Windows start, press F8
- From the selections, Select SafeMode
2. Remove Registry entries that the threat added. You MUST BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST.
- Click Start > Run
- Type in the field, regedit
- Navigate and look for the registry entries mentioned above and delete if necessary
3. Delete malicious files that the threat added:
- Base on the given location above, browse and delete the file
- If no location is given, click Start>Search> and search for the file.
- If cannot be deleted, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access Task Manager, see if the file is running in the process. If it is, select the file and click End Process. Perform file delete again.
4. Scan computer with Antivirus Program
- Update antivirus program
- Scan computer and delete all detected threats.
